Our Spring Fundraising Campaign Has Begun!

Students Writing

Hello from all of us here at the Lakota Waldorf School!

The days are getting warmer, the school year is coming to a close, and the time has come for our Spring Fundraising Campaign. We hope, once again, for your support.

The Lakota Waldorf School is a tuition-free institution that serves some of the most disadvantaged children in the country. We rely entirely on grants (75%) and donations (25%) to cover our operating expenses. Therefore, our fundraising campaigns are absolutely essential to ensuring our continued operation.

What is our need?

In order to continue supporting our students in the 2022-2023 school year, the Lakota Waldorf school must raise $20,000 for general operations.

How will your gift support the Lakota Waldorf School?

The Lakota Waldorf School relies on the financial support of our donors to continue providing high-quality, tuition-free education to children living on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Your gift will allow us to:
  • Educate children living on the Pine Ridge Reservation with our unique curriculum that blends Waldorf methodologies with Lakota language and culture.
  • Help these children to foster a deeper connection to their culture and heritage while preparing academically for the rigors of 21st-century life.
  • Create social renewal in the classroom and in the broader Lakota community.
  • Improve Lakota language fluency in new generations.
  • Foster a life-long love of learning among our students.

The work we do at the Lakota Waldorf School is transforming the lives of our students and revitalizing the Lakota community here on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Don’t just take our word for it; our students’ parents agree!

Emily Pucket, one of our parents, describes the “huge impact” that the Lakota Waldorf School’s “emphasis on imagination and creativity” has had on her son. She says, “Instead of wanting to watch TV or play video games, he would rather paint a picture or collect bugs. My family is so grateful for the foundation Lakota Waldorf has built for my son – because of them, my son has a love for learning that I believe will take him so far.”

Averia Fast Horse, another of our parents, appreciates how the Lakota Waldorf School is bringing the Lakota language into her children’s lives. She says,”I picked the Lakota Waldorf School for my children because I wanted them to learn how to speak Lakota. I know my ways, I was raised by my grandmother, so I teach them about our people, but, sadly, I don’t know how to speak my own language.”

None of this amazing progress would be possible without the generous support of our donors. We ask you to please consider making a gift in support of our Spring Fundraising Campaign. Every donation, no matter its size, is tremendously appreciated and reaffirms our commitment to our work.

Here are three ways to make a gift:

  1. Use our website’s DONATE page (with PayPal Option)
  2. Visit our GO FUND ME page.
  3. Send a CHECK made to “Lakota Waldorf School” to P.O. Box 527, Three Mile Creek Road, Kyle, SD 57752

Please know that your gift – no matter the size – will help us to transform the lives and future of Lakota students living on one of the poorest Indian reservations in the United States.
